The app is very basic and easy to use in a sense, but it provides various diagnostic statistics without explaining what they are. For example, it shows a “Start Quantity” count, but doesn’t explain if those are assisted starts or all starts. Same with the history log—nowhere does it say what events are included in the log. My “start quantity” is over tripe the number of log entries, so presumably they’re not counting the same events. Another example: there’s a temperature shown on the battery tab and the starter tab, but is that the temperature of the battery and device? Outside temp? There are undefined acronyms (SoC) and no definitions or explanations for basically any of the data points. Of course one can look up acronyms but you’d think they would just include a glossary or something. So clearly the device and app are geared for people who know about cars who will understand what things like Discharge Ratio and Discharge Current are. But for people like me who are able to install and use the Super Starter but don’t otherwise know much about cars or car mechanics, the data provided in the app is of limited value. Also, clicking on “App Support” goes to a website (leagend [dot] com) that doesn’t have any support or help options and doesn’t even seem related to Ancel or the Super Starter at all.
I previously used an ANCEL BM200 to monitor my car’s 12V battery. This ANCEL Super Starter app offers a familiar interface, similar functionality, and made it easy for me to transition to and use the ANCEL BS200 Super Starter.
I’m glad this app has valuable info that shows how well the bs200 i have is working, as well as have an idea of what my battery voltage is like without needing to start my car, i like being able to toggle off the start function too to be able to compare with and without the assist, i’m excited to see what the devs come up with to make this even cooler!
