Notifications

Don’t usually leave reviews but this app is very clunky and hard to use. I got a notification about the sauna being down at my location and when I clicked it couldn’t actually read the notification. Sadly no log of notifications anywhere either so I know the sauna is down but not until when or what I can do in the meantime

Barely Functioning

The app works in the sense that I can bring my barcode up to scan in, and that’s about it. Everything about this app is as janky as possible. There are menu options that seemingly go nowhere. For example? The “loyalty” tab just brings up your rewards points balance and that’s it. But that info is already present in the “rewards” section of the app, so kind of feels redundant and just another area to get lost in. Speaking of the rewards tab, it’s awful. There’s no easily identifiable search function and I can’t Find where to use my rewards for in club discounts and purchases like smoothies or recovery services. It’s just a mess of different discounts and options are bundled into weird categories. There are other options that are not clearly defined. For example, “my appointments” and “my sessions” are two separate menu options but there’s no real explanation of what they are and why they are two different categories. There is a shop button at the bottom of the app that just brings you to three random CF branded pieces of gear, and that’s it. Clicking on one of those pieces of gear just redirect you to an instance of the CF website within the app, which is hardly useful. Nothing feels really integrated into the app itself and it feels like there are a million half baked menus. The class selection is not optimized at all. Rather than being able to Book a class and pay for it all in one menu, I believe you need to purchase a individual class pass from a separate menu, then go in and book a class through a different menu. Again just wonky and more steps than necessary. The class pass purchasing is also mislabeled. For example a single class pass states that a single pass expires in seven days, 60 days, and six months all within the same description window. Which one is it?

A Lot of Rough Edges

Let’s get the most important detail out of the way - it works! That’s about the end of the praise. The design is bad - there’s no clear visual hierarchy, things that are grouped together seem arbitrary, the tabs are jankily organized, a lot of buttons push a web view where the content doesn’t fit well. There’s a favorites section but I don’t know what I can favorite. There’s issues in the implementation like not correctly respecting the bottom safe area. There’s zero charm, it’s all white text on black backgrounds, they don’t even have your membership photo associated to your account. It’s also missing features you would expect it to have - why can’t I order a shake in the app while I wrap up my workout so I can grab it off a shelf on my way out instead of waiting in a queue or at least for it to be made? This is really the minimum you could have and ship. But it’s not an MVP,l - there’s plenty of random extra garbage crammed in that they should have waited on. Just not good by any metric.
