I managed (2nd attempt) using my IPad and Samsung phone to set up and use the app today to renew my driving licence. This app asked for info and codes which went to my Samsung. No keyboard appeared on the app on my IPad and I had to keep typing the required info on my Notes and then copy and paste them to this app. I also had to scan my passport chip with my phone. It didn’t seem to be working, as had happened on my previous attempt. Then I removed the Samsung’s cover and that proved to be the reason as it then worked. It was so much easier last time I did in 2003. I would add I am tech savii so usually do not have a problem with using online services.
I tried to find advantages to the app over the website. Maybe there are some but I couldn’t find any, so I will likely never use this as prefer website and have deleted the app.
The pre app release videos for this app looked really promising and suggested we were getting something similar to the apps that have been available in countries like Poland and Estonia for years. It showed a user flicking between their vehicle details, tax details etc. None of this is actually accessible in the app and when you click on something it essentially takes you to the government website for that service to browse through as normal. What a disappointment. Not an app or useful.
