I use the Airprobe to cook meat in my Instant Pot. The Airprobe, while it’s inside the pressure cooker, connects to the Tappecue App on my iPad. The app shows me the internal temperature of the meat and also the pressure cooker’s internal temperature. I can leave the iPad near the pressure cooker and use the Apple Watch or iPhone Tappecue Apps to see the temperatures, which are updated on the internet cloud in real time, where ever I go. When the meat reaches the correctly cooked temperature, I turn the pressure cooker off and do a natural or quick pressure release. No more trying to guess how long to cook meat in the Instant Pot. I now know exactly when it’s perfectly done.
When I bought my Tappecue seven years ago, it took a little study to figure out. Since then, it’s always required a little patience to set up, but once it’s connected to my phone, it has worked incredibly well. I love the ability to monitor temps from almost anywhere. Recently though, Tappecue issued an app update for the iPhone and the the thermometer no longer connects to my iPhone. It’s limited to being a very expensive pen thermometer. I’m very disappointed in Tappecue for disabling my ability to use their product...presumably in an effort to make me purchase a newer version. There’s no chance I will purchase another Tappecue given their ability to issue a software upgrade that disables the device. I do not recommend Tappecue. Once I’ve found a new solution, I will update this review with a recommendation for an alternative product.
Tappecue WiFi thermometer is simply awesome. Always keeping me notified and in touch with my grill temps has proven to be invaluable. It’s saved me a couple times when I experienced a flameout. Right away I was able to get the smoker fired back up. It always notifies me when my IT is right where I want it to be making it possible to constantly grill to perfection. Alerts right to your phone are priceless. I highly recommend it to any serious BBQ lover. I love the 4 probe capability for when I grill different things or I need steaks cooked to different internal temps. Also, I just use a portable power pack to run the unit. No need to plug it in to an outlet. I ordered the wire management turtles which are way cool. I also have the magnetic mount so I can post it up anywhere on my smoker to quickly see what’s going on. Tappecue customer service is top notch as well. This thing is just awesome!
