The gameplay is genuinely good. It has the tactical flavor Final Fantasy’s Triple Triad or a liter take on Neuroshima Hex. I like the gameplay a lot and I love the idea of a physical game that you play digitally with your physically owned cards (though that is coming soon). The reason I have to knock off stars is because the art is entirely AI generated, and it looks like it. This isn’t just a case of “artists used AI in their workflow”, these are really bad looking, obviously AI-generated slop pieces. I would have preferred crayon drawings from children over the tired, boring, uninteresting, generic slop used in the game. It’s a real shame. Artwork makes or breaks card games, and Draconis 8 has some truly horrible artwork. I expected better from the company behind Star Realms.
