I’m using the app for the bird feeder camera. I’m impressed with the quality of the camera and the feeder. The locals are really enjoying it. The combo tray and perch-style feeder really gets a large variety of feathered friends. The camera’s image is good quality. The feeder and camera were easy to setup and it sensitively captures motion. However, the app could use some usability improvements. In particular: 1. Enable a ‘sleep’ feature so the camera doesn’t constantly go off when I’m out in the yard; 2. Add preview images to the notifications. 3. Allow clicks on notifications to take you directly to the snapshot or video in the app.
This is a really nice birdfeeder, but there are a few issues with it. I really love that the camera continuously records as long as it detects motion. Other cameras only record on average a minimum of 20 seconds where this one with the SD card inserted I’ve been able to record as long as I want one time I recorded about 10 minutes. I also love when it’s done recording there is no downtime meaning it will record again immediately. Other birdfeeders have on average one minute downtime so then you’re missing on whatever visits the feeder but with this one, you never have to worry about that it continuously will pick up everything. The camera is amazing as well. It records crisp and clear images even at night. I love that it has the solar panel built right in however, sometimes this is an issue as you cannot place it in a shaded area. If it had an external solar panel, you could place the panel wherever the other issue is the solar panel does charge but there seems to be a disconnect on passing the charge to the battery. The battery will charge when plugged in and while the solar panel says it’s charging, it does not seem to hold the charge. The other issue I have is there is nowhere to do a forgot password in order to change the password you have to have the old password. They have an area for a live chat which I have tried reaching out through that to ask how I can change the password without know one, but nobody responds. Then they have a long, long list of FAQ’s but nowhere in that list does it state how to change the password even if you know the old one nor how to change it if you don’t know the old one. So basically you need to make sure you tattoo the password to yourself or you’ll never be able to access the app which means you won’t be able to access the camera. Otherwise I really do love this camera. It just has a few things that could use some improvement.
This is my first Smart Bird Feeder and I’m looking forward to trying out the AI “smart bird identification” feature. The App has been easy to navigate and the camera linked immediately (I like the voice prompts that occur in both the App and the camera itself). I was surprised to find a long list of FAQ’s, help videos, and expanded instructions for a wide range of subjects related to the App, the smart cams, and the various types of bird feeders, houses, and other smart/camera devices that this App supports. I purchased a MicroSD card but it seems that you must purchase the cloud storage in order to access the AI “smart bird identification” feature, so I’m going to try both (the microSD card & the cloud storage) and compare/contrast the features and benefits of both. If this works as it appears it will, I think I will be purchasing more of these smart bird feeders and even a bird house or two.
