Reviews: What People Think About Go Map!!

Rating: 5/5
I’ve been performing more and more OpenStreetMap edits of late, but I work exclusively from my iPad Pro. I can do most of my edits in OpenStreetMap’s own web-based iD editor, but there are certain things which are cumbersome, some that only work if you know the keyboard shortcuts, and yet others that are impossible (dragging nodes). Then there’s Go Map!! It can do everything that I need: create & modifying nodes, lines, areas, tags, notes, etc. Node creation can take some getting used to, but it’s identical to creating tracks in other iOS mapping software such as Avenza, so really no big deal. The UI could use a tiny bit of polish, but it’s free, and I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work correctly, so it still deserves 5 stars. If you want to update OpenStreetMap data for pleasure or profit, definitely get this app, arm yourself with the link to the OpenStreetMap wiki (for reference to any tags which might not be natively supported, plus general best-practices), and go map!

It doesn’t matter where you are, Go Map!! Makes it very easy to update Open Street Map! I use it all the time to make edits in areas I visit. The UI, while could be improved, is definitely usable and easy to pick up on! Everything just makes sense! Plus, the flexibility of this one app makes it great for many things, such as adding GPX traces and OSM notes to update things later. While not as capable as the ID editor, or JOSM, especially with mass edits, this app more than gets the job done! I can’t express how much appreciation I have for the developer, and it is obvious that they care about this app. Would rate it a 6/5 if I could!

It’s like iD, but with a reasonably native feel, reasonable performance, and a pretty good GPS track recording feature. I have no idea how to export a GPX, but I don’t really need to given how much I can do on a phone. Perfect for mapping while playing Ingress: you spot a missing thing on Ingress’s OSM-based map, switch to this app, done. The only issue (minus the relation limitations — well you don’t expect to do everything) is that iOS likes to mess up your GPX tracks with network-derived locations.
