I made a commitment to run my first half marathon. I didn’t know how to train myself to do so. The app gave me direction, and guided my training process. It is valuable to be able to communicate with Marathon Matt during the process, his knowledge and insight were very helpful. The problems I’ve had... using the app and my music stream simultaneously, the music will occasionally cut off. A few times, during runs, the app would unknowingly pause. My race was postponed tho I continued to train. Thus I’m running my half this wknd, alone. I appreciate having the app to accomplish this goal.
I did something stupid and signed up for a 10K only 3 weeks away, and I haven’t run since July. I scoured the App Store for an app that had a short term 10K trainer and couldn’t find anything. They’re all at LEAST 4 weeks+, most are at least 13 weeks. This app actually allowed me to schedule 3 weeks for my training program, because it asks the date that your event is. I love that! It also gives great details about your run, lets you know your split times for each mile while you’re running, and tracks your route. My favorite running app in the App Store right now. I would say it’s mostly worth the $8/month. The thing that actually bothers me the most is that it makes me sign in almost every single time. That wouldn’t be a big deal, except that when I’m about to start a run, I don’t want to spend 3 minutes outside in the cold walking down the street trying to prep the app. I find that quite annoying. Also, just tested the Siri capabilities, just out of curiosity. It’s a little slow (though that’s Siri’s fault, not SportMe) but if you say “Hey Siri, start a run,” she brings up the app and the run starts without you having to click anything else so that’s super handy. It doesn’t seem to always work though. Again, I blame Siri mostly.
Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list but I’ve had a difficult time sustaining a regular training. I get bored running long distances and loose interest easily. I started training for 10k on SportMe app three months ago and I am absolutely thrilled by how much fun it has been! I especially love the customized training program feature; it makes training more meaningful as each program focuses on strengthening one area, such as physical stamina or mental focus e.t.c. The break-downs make training highly satisfying and less overwhelming. Now I achieve incremental goals easily on weekly basis! I never knew running can be so interesting. Now I look forward to my training days and I can’t wait to earn my next Milestone. SportMe has made running so much more fun and rewarding. Thank you! Needless to say I highly recommend it to all runners ❤️
