Reviews: What People Think About Social Quest

This app is good. A few flaws though: there are no directions for use since the only option was a video which is no longer available. I would also like to be able to toggle between expressive open ended responses and receptive options which can provide choices if kids are stumped. Last it would be nice if there was some type of data breakdown between types of questions—-for example social expectations/manners, social inferences, etc

At first I was not not a fan of this app, and I didn't use it for a while. Then I gave it another chance and I decided I really like it. There are several scenarios available and I use it often with my older kids. The only thing I would like and this is something I want in most apps and that is the option to hide choices and then push a button to show answers. I want this because I like for my kids to attempt a verbal response and if they struggle then I can offer them the choices.

I like this app. I think the situations are great. Only thing I would add is making the players work toward an actual final goal. They are on a quest. Perhaps they could be locating buried treasure or finding a lost city. Older students, especially "gamers" need more of a storyline and motivation than just collecting rewards.
About Social Quest
Best Educational App by Teacher with Apps
Description for SLPs & Educators
Social Quest is the premier, evidence-based, gamified intervention tool developed by a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to master crucial pragmatic language, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills in tweens and teens (Ages 8-17).
Stop searching for relevant, age-appropriate materials. Social Quest uses over 800 high-interest narratives and contextual images set in real-life locations (Home, School, Community) to provide the vital "jumping off" points for discussion. This app transforms abstract social concepts into a motivating, customizable quest.
Why SLPs & Educators Choose Social Quest:
1. Evidence-Based and Curriculum-Ready
Story-Based Intervention: Aligned with practices found effective for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and social communication disorders (National Autism Center, 2011).
Focus on Generalization: Features separate Receptive (multiple choice) and Expressive (open-ended discussion) activities to promote generalization of skills beyond the therapy room.
Targeted Skills: Explicitly addresses: Perspective-Taking, Conversational Maintenance/Transitions, Gauging Others' Reactions, Problem Solving, and developing Self-Talk for anxiety reduction (Sze & Wood, 2007).
2. Motivating Quest Theme & Customizable Profiles
Gamified Learning: Students embark on a quest, navigating locations via a "Tele Transporter Machine" to solve social challenges.
Personalized Progress: Easily create and manage multiple student profiles with customizable avatars/photos (See: Hall of Heroes).
The Hall of Rewards: Reinforce progress with virtual, skill-linked tokens (e.g., Saddle for asserting control, Prism for understanding perspective), providing tangible concepts for discussing skill use outside the app.
3. Critical Data Tracking & Reporting
Automated Data Collection: Effortlessly track progress across Receptive and Expressive activities, locations, and sessions.
Detailed Report Cards: Generate session-by-session reports showing accuracy, items presented, and most/least successful locations.
Share Function: Print or email reports directly to parents, case managers, or students for easy progress monitoring and record-keeping, essential for IEPs and parent communication.
The Social Quest Advantage
Real-World Contexts: Questions cover relevant scenarios in the Kitchen, Library, Supermarket, Mall, Doctor's Office, and more.
Flexible Social Scripts: The Receptive Activity can be customized to require students to identify one or two correct answers, reflecting the flexible nature of social rules.
Visual & Auditory Support: All questions include contextual images, text, and accompanying audio for diverse learning needs.
