It would be nice if they had consistent coverage of these tournaments….but it is all so fragmented. You use to be able to watch most of these tournaments on either Channel 2 or Channel 4, now my Dad who played tennis since he was 7 years old is now 91…always watched all the matches…and now it is so difficult for this age group viewership to watch these matches. Do they not get that if you don’t make it easy and accessible for viewers, they will give up watching…and just look at the scores? My father taught me to play and I grew up watching all the tournaments and continue to practice, but I must admit that now that everything is being broadcasted in bits and pieces…makes it not worth watching. You have to make it easy for viewers to watch all the matches, otherwise they just sign off and give up. How will you get new viewers engaged in watching all these new players coming up now that the legends are all retiring? You must make it easy and accessible for everyone….not broken up over several channels. The younger viewers are not as physically active and don’t have the attention span…and the older viewers will find it too technologically challenging and just give up…..please, make it easy and available for all tennis fans!
NBC sports app (gold pass) is so so so so bad. Which is a shame because their cycling product isn’t bad, they actually have great coverage of the limited races that they cover. Why so bad? Well because whether roku, iPad, or iPhone, it is so basic and has so few conveniences, it’s almost like they rolled it out 10 years ago and have literally made not improvements to it at all, whatsoever. No 30 sec jump forward or back, so if you miss something , good luck trying to scroll back on your phone. Roku fast forward is literally 1 minute jump per second, so if you want to jump 2 or 3!hours into a 5 hr bike race, it takes 2 to 3 full minutes of sitting, holding that fast forward button and watching the minutes tick by. Fine for a free product, or fine for 2010, but in 2020, when streaming products are pretty commonplace and have these basic features, but when you pay $55/ year and they can’t make some super basic improvements to the product to bring it into the modern age of streaming platforms, it’s just lazy and “F you” to the customer. It really is a shame because the actual coverage is so good. Been an annual subscriber for many years. Never complained because I appreciate the fact that NBC provides great coverage of a European based sport. I just figured that I would have some faith that maybe it’s in the works. But seriously, I guess if people don’t complain and give low ratings, nothing will ever get done to provide basic modern features to this archaic platform.
I’m ok with paying a fee for service, just like I do for Netflix or HBO GO, but personally I feel NBC is going a little far to charge a fee per sport/interest. Just have the fee for all-access to content like other services, instead of being locked out of all content but still being able to visually see it all. I don’t think anyone at NBC actually uses the App because long, long ago they would have desired to place the option to easily rewind/fast forward either in 15-30 second increments, or/and in using the app on the phone or through the T.V. allow the viewer to see content while in NBC’s version of “scrolling” through content to find the spot you are looking for. Old School VHS players rewind easier. The viewer is forced to sign in over and over again so the least NBC could do is actually remember where the user is in their personal content in one channel when switching from different devices. Netflix will remember where you currently are in their content with a multitude of shows, NBC can make the app remember where I am with my siphoned/filtered down content to one game on two personal devices. I appreciate that NBC has allowed me to watch Rugby in America, and I want to continue this relationship but possibly from your end (at NBC) continue to make the product work better for your users.
