I love the Grocery List portion!! The tabs to separate things into different categories is great and makes it super easy to go to my store and just look at what section I’m in or heading towards. I’ve started playing with the Pantry portion. I like the % bar you can use on products to easily glance at what you’re low on but you can change the qty label. I highly recommend this app and have a friend looking into it already. I do not like how the categories you create in Grocery List transfer over to Pantry. I have a lot of spices and want those on a separate section but you can add/remove categories so it’s not a big deal. If you label something baking/spices in Grocery it will not automatically change the category in the Pantry list (I checked). What I have noticed that is really annoying is that any categories you deleted (that were standard to the app) will reappear every time you close the app (sometimes it feels like when your still in the app). For instance: I edited deleted cooking/ spices because I added baking/ spices, because I didn’t see the prior and all of that is down the baking isle. Anytime I add a spice it adds it to Cooking/ Spices (which shouldn’t exist) but there it is along with others I deleted. I do wish the Pantry had a scanner but I think that’s just because I just downloaded the app and I have so much stuff to add.
This is the most useful application I own! It simply provides you with a list of everything you might need at the grocery store, organized by “aisle.” When you first use the app, or you start using it at a new store, you may have to make a few changes in the location of some items. After that, you just sit down with the app before you go to the store, and you choose the items you definitely need. You don’t necessarily need to include everything if that is too “list” focused. Just pick the items you absolutely need, or just the ones you’re likely to forget. The program then sorts your choices by location or aisle. As you get the items on your list, you check them off, and the app moves the item to the “cart” list. I have saved myself so many repeat trips to get forgotten items! The other use is for when I’m on a tight budget. I can plan in the quietness of my home, away from the temptations of the store! Then I hold myself just to my list. I don’t forget important stuff, and I don’t come back with any junk! If I were allowed only one app, this would be the one I would choose. Your selfish self won’t like it, but your sensible self will love it!
I used Groceries for years, then one day I get a notification that it will no longer be supported on my phone! Huge disappointment. I had so many different lists already, some even by recipe, and I was NOT looking forward to starting all over again. I downloaded about 3 different apps to see which would work best. I decided to stick with List Ease because it really is easy to use, I can still have multiple lists (although now I just run through my recipe lists and add everything to a "Today" list). I even made a pantry staple list and can read through, check off items that I'm missing, then move them to my "Today" list. My favorite feature is the price input. This app remembers the prices of my items, so I know what I'm spending before I go, but I can also easily add in the price as I shop for new items, or if anything has changed, that way I know exactly how much money I'm spending! The tediousness of typing in everything all over again for my main and recipe lists didn't really bother me, because the app has an enormous database, and remembers your items. If I want to make a quick list, it has a predictive text feature that allows you to type just a few letters, and then you can choose from the items that pop up. Ads have been minimal on the free version for me. I'm about to start using the pantry and coupon features, as well! I love this app more and more every time I use it!
