This app commits several sins. The worst one is that there is a strict relationship with Chase that prohibits people who don’t use Chase from using the app. Are they payments from Chase worth it from the lost business? This is a poor business decision, especially in light of all the card skimmers that are out there and that this is pushing users like me to use apps compatible with the pay system in my device so I do not have to present my card to the machine (and have the information stolen).
Other sins include asking you to scroll down a long list of countries to identify what country you are in - and then it asks for permission to locate you. Huh? I would think the country one is in is fairly self-evident from the location one is using the app. For well traveled Europeans, one can have a ‘chose your home country’ option if that is different from the country in which you initialized the app. Honestly, that’s poor design.
After I discovered that this app needed a Chase account, which I don’t have, to function, I uninstalled it, and installed the Exxon app, which uses the wallet function for payment. That app works seamlessly with the pump, and I’ll have to use their fuel until you guys get your app sorted out.

Can’t get this app to start. It keeps asking me for my country location and language. Then after I select it, it goes back to ask me again. Then it gives me an error message.
App works great now! Issue must have been a poor wifi or cellular connection. Once I was in a better area, the problem went away and I am now able to use the app. It is a great app to use while at Shell. Don’t need to wait for pump instructions of inserting credit card, yes or no to buy carwash, insert rewards card, if you want a receipt, the receipt goes right into the app so you don’t have to worry about paper being out on pump and going to get it from the attendant.

I was very hopeful I could find gas apps that I can use my phone to pay for gas. We have major gas pump skimming problems in south Florida and I thought this would be a lot safer to buy gas. I already have the Mobil Exxon app that is awesome and was hoping to utilize another station other than Mobil. Well, I down loaded the app, set up an account and when I went to set up my credit card the only option was through Chase Pay and only uses Chase payment options! Too bad they limited the app like that. Looks like I will not be going to Shell. I own 4 cars, a Motorhome and looking for another car for my second daughter. We would all be using the app to fill the cars! Looks like I drive the extra mile for Mobil!

PAY AT THE PUMP
Simply confirm your payment and enter your pump number. The app will generate a 3-digit authorization code. Enter the 3-digit code into the dispenser. For your safety, please leave your phone in your car while you are fueling. When finished, the app automatically displays a receipt with your transaction information.
PAY INSIDE THE STORE
Inside the store, simply select “Pay now” on the Shell Pin Pad and show the app QR code to the cashier to scan. When finished, the app automatically displays a receipt with your transaction information.
