No location selection in the Bay Area? My account makes me select a region but my region is not represented. That's too bad.

I don't think the reviewers who talked about calling 9-1-1 really understand what hollaback is about. This is about ending and spreading awareness of ALL types of street harassment--including harassment that is generally accepted as "normal." The kind of harassment we are told to take as a compliment. The kind we'd probably get fined for calling 9-1-1 over, even though it's dehumanizing and wrong. If a guy won't stop hitting on me on a bus and i want him to leave me alone, I can't call 9-1-1 on him. If a man makes an inappropriate and unwanted remark about what I'm wearing or about my body, or honks or screams out a car window at me, I can't call 9-1-1. As much as it is about stopping violence and more obviously damaging forms of harassment, Hollaback is about changing the status of what is considered socially acceptable harassment, by spreading awareness of it and encouraging those who have experienced it to have a voice. Hence the name: don't stay silent, Hollaback!
