UMBC

UMBC ‘23 freshman here. I had high hopes for this app. I’ve seen many great university apps, as well as many awful ones. Unfortunately, this is not one of the good ones. This app serves no function that the myUMBC website can’t do by itself. The navigation is less intuitive, and the pages often load slower than they do in Safari. I’d really love to see a legitimate mobile app, and I think it could have a lot of potential. It needs a full redesign and rebuild from the ground up using a native app platform, rather than a website in a mobile wrapper. Two stars because it “works” (even though it’s useless). The app does not allow access to blackboard or email. You able to see if you have email, but will not be able to open or send messages.

Lately the app has completely stopped letting me access some applications. I have been using other apps to preform these tasks or logging into my umbc through my safari. I believe that this somewhat ruins the app because it is supposed to allow easy access to my umbc on the go. Before this, in the past, I was having some troubles logging using the pin and fingerprint scanner and issues fully loading some applications that are now completely blocked off.
