Always been a fan of Argos, love the app, used to love the stores until you built fake stores that have no stock and are more like pick up points - even though show same day collection; order then get the reality it’s after 15:00. My biggest gripe and why I avoid using you unless absolutely necessary is your GDPR breaches, lack of care for customers and their consent and manipulation of what you deem marketting and not. YOU CANNOT MAKE A PURCHASE, MAKE IT CLEAR THAT ‘I DO NOT CONSENT’ and have trust you will adhere to it. Each time you send me a plethora of emails, mainly ‘leave us a review’ even though I don’t want you mail or to leave you a review. In an age where people are digital first and companies are designing for digital first, your scoring and own goal and putting people off returning. If someone has a poor digital journey (including comms) there is an 80% chance of them never returning. Run the numbers and see how many one of purchases you have, then speak to those people. Today was my last Argos visit… all because you spam me and unethically navigate contact preferences!
I’ve been using the app a lot lately for my move and I’ve found it to be very good. I love how easy it is to find stuff without struggle and the wishlist section is useful to keep track of items I want to come back to. You get quite a lot of notifications and emails, some of which I find a bit unnecessary as both notification and email will be about the same thing. The notifications are useful though when you have an item in your wishlist that has a price drop. The only issue which I find can happen is that if the Apple Pay option is showing and the other pay options are available, you get a ‘failed operation’ so you have no choice but to use Apple Pay which can be a bit annoying although it not the biggest issue in the world, I guess.
I’m an NHS keyworker, this weekend i decided to order a new wardrobe as i’m decorating my room. The last thing i needed was added stress. I tried to order a wardrobe from the app and it wouldn’t let me as it kept showing a blank white screen. I then went online and placed an order, when i’d entered my bank details the system crashed and i didn’t receive an order number or an email, i checked my bank account and the money had been taken. I was furious when i saw this, i stayed on the live chat option for 2 hours and was never put through i then decided to call the number and it was just an automated message telling me that i should be refunded in 5 days. It’s just not good enough Argos, you’ve ruined my weekend and now i’m going to be worried sick about whether or not i will be refunded this is the LAST thing i needed during this time as i still have to work full time at the hospital. It’s just absolutely shocking and disgraceful EDIT: i received the money back in my account in 2 days later. I just tried to buy it again and the same thing has happened. You have taken my money again and it’s come up as an error! I will never shop with you again.
