Dr. Wit’s Library Edition

The dictionary does cover more words than most and provides actual definitions (as opposed to the search engine based translations provided by many of the free iphone/itouch apps). However, the definitions are often abbreviated and miss many common usages. My primary annoyance with the app is that none of the words have links. The ease of use would increase greatly if it were possible to do an English word search, and then tap the Thai words provided to jump straight to the thai-thai definition of those words. As it stands now, there is no way to know which translation captures the proper meaning of the English word without manually typing in each of the translated words. A second annoyance is that while browsing words the scrolling is very slow and choppy. Too slow to actually be used. Oddly, scrolling through the English dictionary is quick and easy. Third the app is slow to load up initially. The breadth of vocabulary is nice and the dictionary is convenient but it would be far better if the three issues above were fixed in a later update.

This is the most complete Thai dictionary for the iPhone. More words than any other. Translates from English to Thai script and vice versa. Very helpful last time I was in Bangkok. When my limited spoken Thai didn't suffice, this did the job.

This is a good dictionary if you know how to read thai already. There is no transliteration of the word. So if I look up a word it tell me what the word is in thai----in the thai language. So i can't even attempt to say the word in translation because I cannot read thai. If you have someone that speaks thai and they don't know the english word all you do is type it in and show them the thai word and they will know what your talking about. So far it seems like it might be helpful in the sense of showing someone who speaks thai. It seems to be full of words too which is a plus. I would suggest trying to find a dictionary with transliteration before getting this one.
