Coast-Enjoy the ride

They make it impossible to turn off the bike and as a result you spend way more then you should. Very complicated

I used the coast scooters twice on my vacation to cape cod. I rented two scooters for my bf and I and we used it to get back to our parking space. Don’t get me wrong it was a great time…however; having to constantly look at your phone to see how much time you have left and then open your phone to end the rides is ridiculous. Have it on the little dashboard! The time it took me to open my phone and end both rides put one of the scooters over 15 minutes and they charged me for it. Their customer service is fast and they got back to me right away which was nice however they say they “can’t refund money” and only give ride credits. So they put the credit for one ride back into my account…I didn’t really want to ride the scooters again but since the money was in there we did. I set an alarm on my phone the second time so I knew roughly when it was gonna end, giving myself about 2 minutes to be able to park/end the rides without going over 15 minutes. Well…we got to the parking space still with a couple minutes to spare, I opened the app to end the rides and it glitched, gave me an error message, and logged me out. Then it wouldn’t let me log back in and when it finally did it had been over 16 minutes, the rides were still going and I was charged for another 15 on both scooters. Of course I contacted them again, not wanting to use the scooters based on my previous experiences, I didn’t want credits, just wanted my money back and they won’t do it. Not even trying to find any possible way to refund me, they said take it up with my bank. Ridiculous. Hopefully others have better experiences on these things but I won’t be trying them again unless they get some remodeling. I’d say put the timer on the dashboard so you know how much time has passed, and put a button or something ON THE ACTUAL SCOOTER! So you can end the ride without having to take your phone out. It’s already super expensive for 15 measly minutes, don’t make people waste some of that time on their phones dealing with a faulty app.

My boyfriend and I were in Provincetown and rented scooters to get to the beach to watch the sunset. He got the Coast scooter, and I got the Goat one (Goat is the name of the app, I think the scooter itself has a different name). Anyway, we scooter to the beach and watch the sunset for about 10-15 min, when the Coast scooter beeps and then ends the ride because the scooter had been standing idle. There was no service at the beach, so my boyfriend had to push the scooter for at least 15 minutes until we could find signal to restart the ride. The scooter beeped and had an alarm on the whole way, which was annoying. There was probably a warning somewhere in the app that the scooter times out and disconnects, but we didn’t see it in time, and the scooter beeps and immediately disconnects, it doesn’t give you any warning or time to move it around. The Goat scooter, on the other hand, did not time out, and it had a faster top speed. I would recommend using the Goat. Coast is fine if you plan on staying on the move the whole time.
