Using additive and spectral synthesis the almost endless possibilities also happen to be very musical. The interface may seem daunting at first but is actually very useful and smart. The multi lane arppegiator is an extremely useful feature, with multiple lanes that are multi timbral and as such offer complex, but organic sounding results. Iโve been using Tera Ion the desktop since it was released. And it only continues to get better. There are so many ways of manipulating sound, but it might seem daunting, it is something once youโre used to the graphical interface is obscenely capable. There are literally almost every kind of timbre available by using its synthesis engine including a useful, musical randomizer. But letโs be honest, it is a complex synth and there are a plethora of useful presets ready to be explored and tweaked. Itโs an excellent way to learn how the synth works. There are not many synthesizers that I wax poetic about. VerSyn makes several. If youโre positive youโre never going to want to program look at Teraverse, itโs a cut down version with all of the presets at a very reasonable price. I would encourage anyone thinking of Terraverse to think of Tera Pro, itโs so capable, and to me one of the most fun synthesizers to program.
We still need a quick-access key-hold button. Burying it in a menu hidden in the Common module makes it pretty much non-existent in any active playing mode. I am a big fan of the original Tera. Tera Pro is even better in many respects but it has additional versatility and functionality that make it a little more cumbersome to use. Sound quality is great and it is very flexible I have only one serious gripe. The "keyhold" feature (acts like a sustain pedal on a switch) is buried in a menu. This makes it almost useless. Look at ANY synthesizer -hardware or software- and you will find the "hold" button is immediately accessible. Please move the key hold feature to the main screen. It is an important live-performace feature. Why anyone would bury that in the settings menu remains a mystery. Very awkward. For my purposes (live performance) this reduces Tera Pro to only 3 stars, mostly becasue it is just such a dumb mistake and it really does make it harder to use what should be a mindlessly simple but important feature. Fortunately this SHOULD be a very easy fix for the developer.
Iโve been learning about synthesis a lot lately and Iโve been going over my apps I let collect dust and I came across Tera Pro. Iโve had this since it came out, it has tons of beautiful presets but I never realized the power it has until I started sound designing my own patches. MAN anything from basic synths to crazy far out spacey sound FX, this synth is a beast. I really like how you can see how the oscillators effect each other in the chain via the numerous oscilloscopes that are in this app. If youโre just getting into making your own patches, I feel this is a great synth to start with because as you learn, u can make more complicated sounds with the same kind of building blocks. If youโre not into sound design, there are plenty of beautiful sounds included, not to mention the randomize button, which has produced me tons of playable patches that I liked or had to tweak just slightly for it to sound good. Love this developer and coming from Drambo as my main DAW .. this work flow makes sense and goes hand and hand. Thank you for this app. Much love!
