Great to have the functionality to control the WiFi radiators, and it does make setting programmes easier, however settings do feel lost within the app (sorry!). When planning a Programmed Timer Heating schedule you have to exit the section of the app which you drag and drop your Eco and Comfort schedule. To then set the temperature for each category, you must go back into “Heaters” and select a radiator and then the settings cog to go in and set your comfort and eco temperatures. This is also where the Motion / Person detection and Open Window on/off toggle lives in the app. I so believe that this app could be overhauled with a fresh new look and feel which is more user friendly, and has less advertising, (directing users to buy heaters from Ecostrad) - its nice to know what products are available, but users would only have the app open if they have already purchased the Heaters in the first place, so further advertising Ecostrad products on the home screen of the app feels like a waste of screen real estate, which could be better utilised for quick access menus and shortcuts, and quick programming opposed to cycling through app pages of menus to set the heating. I would greatly appreciate an update for this app and could be happy to be a beta tester if you are developing a new app / interface. Thank you.
The instructions to connect the radiator to the app could have been clearer but, once connected, the app has been really useful. Programming each radiator was very simple and the "copy and paste" function made repeating the schedule for each day very simple. Adjusting the programme is very easy. However, as some of my radiators are in areas of the house that are only used when visitors arrive, I would be useful to have the functionality to "save" a couple of different programmes (eg "Occupied" and "Unoccupied") so I can switch easily between the two settings.
I’ve used the app since installing my radiators and it’s been great. I recently got a replacement for a faulty radiator which is a newer version and therefore has some updated and extra features. For whatever reason the radiator will not stay connected to the app. The app states it’s connected and lets you set up and use the radiator. But the WiFi symbol on the radiator still flashes as if it is not connected. When you close the app or switch to another app, you loose control of the radiator. It will still be listed in the app but will be showed as not connected. I ended up uninstalling and using the alternative 3rd party app smart life. I’ve has no issues since. I would expect the actual ecostrad app to have the better compatibility with and updated products than a 3rd party app, but that’s what I’ll be sticking with from now on. I’d like to state the app is still perfectly fine with my older model radiators so if you have those ( they don’t have a colour touch screen) the app is great and easier to use (slightly) than the smart life app.
