Most food and meal trackers out there have so much bloat and way too many options that it’s overwhelming. This app is super simple and easy to use which makes me more likely to keep up with it! My only critique is that I wish there was an option to track my water intake by ounces instead of just by cups.
Developer has addressed user request and now can record in lbs or kgs! Perfect minimal food journal that provokes intention in dietary choices by promoting reflection on previous choices. Otter visually summarizes prior choices to allow for the user to view days and weeks worth of nutritional intake on one screen. This visual representation is much more tangible than representation by calories or macro nutrients or micro nutrients. It also encourages greater diversity of foods visually—I’ve found myself trying to incorporate more colorful veggies and less bland-appearing nutritionally void carbohydrates and breads. In short — a beautiful app that visually presents prior food choices of the week so that the user can review choices at a glance and make meaningful dietary changes to reflect personal and individualized dietary goals without being overwhelmed by counting calories or macro nutrients or micronutrients.
