This is a good idea in theory but I have encountered bugs at every single stage of using this app. When you reach out to them, the person who responds (I believe the CEO) acts like you’re a coworker annoying him on slack instead of a paying customer who’s being inconvenienced by his buggy app. Further, you actually can’t book a car for the following month until you’re in that month’s billing cycle. So if it’s the day your billing cycle starts or the day after, you can’t book it unless you have extra days banked, you’re willing to pick up the car from the tenderloin, or you pay a “last minute” fee. You better hope your errand or need for the car doesn’t fall on those days I guess! I would recommend Kyte over this due to the bugs, rudeness, and fees.
If you are in the service area, you can’t find a better car share than Upshift. Zipcar’s service went to zero. Why rent a filthy junker from Getaround with expired registration? Why deal with junk fees and unreliable service? Upshift delivers a nice clean Toyota to your house, you drive it, and they come and pick it up. No need to worry about the street sweepers, window smashers, or parking passes. Whenever we had any issues, the company founder would personally reach out and make sure our driving experience was as great as possible.
As much as I tried to live car free in SF, there were just times having a car was more convenient. Thankfully there’s Upshift. Their website and concierge made it incredibly easy to book trips, and made it way more convenient than renting. Thanks Upshift!
