Probably the best app that people from the US can use. Much better than Coinbase, though Coinbase’s offerings are improving. Not nearly as good as real Binance or Kucoin. Much better than the crappy US version of Binance or FTX. For someone from the US, this is probably the best out of the bad options since we have a government that is trying to stifle financial innovation and an SEC head that doesn’t know crypto from a hole in the ground. The worst part of this app is that the good crypto isn’t available like CFG and GLMR. But that’s more Gensler’s fault than Kraken. Maybe someday the US Goverment will wake up and realize that the decentralized economy will happen with or without us and, basically, we are going to get left in the dust while all the opportunities materialize in other countries. If we had some reasonable laws that gave Americans access to the deepest liquidity and lifted restrictions on airdrops and other financial opportunities, at least for accredited investors at the bare minimum, then that only gives us a chance of success in the new economy, not even a guarantee, just a fighting chance instead of no chance at all. The US cannot stop crypto, they can only make sure that all the best crypto opportunities happen to non-Americans and make sure that Americans are neither competitive nor successful.

As a user from the USA but living abroad the number of Exchanges that will register AND also work smoothly are shockingly few. I tried 12 different exchanges and only 4 were successful to register, of those, Kraken Pro was the only one with a pleasant user experience. Swan and BitcoinWell are appealing BTC only exchanges, but both had glitches or regulations that did not live up to their advertisement. Coinbase was the other exchange I compared and it was similar to Kraken. Their use of USDC with interest was appealing (as Kraken can’t offer that currently to US users), and their (free) Advanced Trade mode was a big improvement over the “regular” fees. But then I discovered that Kraken has the PRO App for free as well, and it is hands down the better UI and better fees. Kraken Pro: 0.25% Limit buy fees (vs. 0.6% on CB) and free Lightning transfer (or flat 20k sats BTC transfer fee). I don’t know why anyone would use the “regular” App, and it seems a bit of a charade for Coinbase and Kraken to have two versions like this, but those who research are rewarded. Kraken for the win.

Is it perfect, no, but it’s much better than Coinbase or Binance. Only complaints, had some transfers “delayed”, usually less than hour and only a few times. One bigger issue when I sent INJ from a wallet to kraken. It transferred to wallet instantly but didn’t show up in the app. Reached out after 1 day. Everything was good on their end it was an issue with INJ network and it should arrive soon. It didn’t contacted after a week, same story. After a month contacted again, pushed them to look into it and the tech fixed it in 5 min. Kind of annoying but they handled it well and sure I could have resolved it the first day if I pushed. Communication was always fast, tech just thought they knew what was happening and didn’t want to look closer until pressed. I had a somewhat similar issue with Binance they took a week to respond and wanted to charge me almost the value of the tokens to recover them. Coinbase doesn’t even respond.
Never had an issue with bank transfers.
Nothings perfect, but Kraken seems to care about users, that’s all I need.
