I found out about HouseCurve through an online audio forum I frequent, through a post from the creator and using info from there, and the apps website, I was able to get my Hi-Fi Speaker Setup sounding a heck of a lot better! Itโs not pure night and day, but itโs enough of a difference to appreciate a tool like this. Plus with it being as cheap as it is, even with the added $10 purchase, thereโs practically no reason to hate this app!
Leap works. I mean it using the mic and our phones so Iโm not sure how effective it will be, but I just downloaded it to play around well I can say he must be very careful with this app. Like me, if you have the volume on your phone and equipment up too high when it plays the sweep it blew 59K worth of Martin Logan speakers in my system. And homes so probably should have used a more professional mic, and definitely checked the volume levels. just thought I would throw this out there to others. This is not anything against the app. Other than they should probably put a warning, but more so people donโt play with the volume up too loud.
This is a great app. It helped me troubleshoot some issues with my Audyssey room calibration due to the proximity of my seating to the back wall, which was causing some reflection cancellations. Itโs not โreference levelโ but it didnโt need to be for this purpose. The developer was quick to respond to my questions about hardware and measurement technique. I have an iPhone 13 Pro and the mic is good enough to get the job done. If I spent the money on a UMIK I would be using REW instead, but this app was the right tool just to get some idea of what my room challenges are. I tried using it with an iPad Air 4th gen too, but it gave me very different responses than the iPhone, perhaps due to its large reflective shape. The iPad rolled off below 50 Hz and had an increasing amplitude response above 2 kHz. Since I donโt have a reference mic, Iโm trusting the iPhone more as it matches what I expect Audyssey to have done in terms of corrections, and the ramping frequency response from the iPad seemed grossly wrong. It probably just needs its own mic compensation. Lastly the free app clip is perfectly executed to get a feel for what it can do.
