Dark City: London

This was my first Dark City game that I played years ago. It was a wonderful introduction to the genre, and I went on to buy just about every game made by the developer. Being middle aged, I’m now playing the games again because I’ve completely forgotten all the puzzles and story. It’s a great game even on the second pass. If you haven’t played games from this developer before, don’t be scared off by the fact that you have to pay $5.99 to complete the game. They give you a significant taste before you have to pay, and you’ll definitely get hooked. The price is a bargain! Each game is hours and hours and hours of sheer addictive enjoyment! The games are soooooo well done!

Ok, so the first thing I see it says to wear earphones for better playing. Well, I always wear my earphones when I’m playing games, but no sooner do I read this and the sound crashes. Jeez, I did everything. I restarted the game, I rebooted my phone, but I guess it’s a glitch in the game. The second thing is, there is no tutorial and no explanation on how the game works or what to do. I’m sure 5 hundred kids are going to say, “but I had no problem”, lol. Maybe it’s because I’m an old lady now, but I have no idea what to do. Before anyone tells me to go knit something, or bake a cake, I should tell you that I play almost every game there is available in the App Store. All the survival games, all the fighting and some war games. (Right now my favorite is blades and weird aquarium) So, I’m not ignorant to game playing, but this one I don’t know how to play. So maybe you could add an option to use a tutorial, for those of us that need one. I really want to play this game, so I guess I’ll just keep trying and hopefully the sound will get fixed and I can figure out how to play the game. Thank you to the devs, this game looks so interesting. Still giving you a 5 star!

I’m so glad I tried this! I’d given up on HO games, but I’m now hooked on this series. The stories are interesting, graphics are beautiful, and the games are varied. The bonus games are just as good as the title game, and quite long. Spoiler ahead: Most importantly (for my taste) there are no evil spirits, demons, etc., but flawed people doing the scaring. I love that the last part is a determination of justice on the player’s part. As a comparison, I used to be a BFG member, but dropped it when I realized that most new games were about evil beings (with a few cutesy games once in a while). As the games became more and more complex, requiring a guide to understand it, they were no longer fun. Thank you for putting the fun back in Hidden Object games. I have now played all the Dark City series and will begin playing your other games next.
