Bouncer: Spam Text Blocker

Update: Following the release of iOS 26 this app no longer works. In addition, to add insult to injury with the update, All text messages that Bouncer identifies wind up in a “promotions“ folder, and you are unable to block these numbers, only delete them. You can block any numbers, not identified by Bouncer. *********************** It does a really good job using keyword text to Move unwanted messages to the junk folder. But, you still cannot bulk delete your junk folder. You have to delete them one at a time unless you choose to configure messages in all folders to automatically delete simultaneously. This sort of defeats the purpose of the app if you still have to delete them manually one at a time. I can do that from the inbox without paying for the tool.

I have been using this for a couple of years and it works great to catch the garbage that I have filters set for. Unfortunately it seems or only work for SMS? I keep getting scam iMessagss from the Philippines for toll road violations and none of my filters catch them. I had filters with "Toll" and "toll" (shouldn't need both) and messages with "The Toll Roads" go right through. That's just one example. SMS always get caught, though. Could this be because I have iMessage in the cloud with iPad and Macbook? I haven't been able to figure it out.

I am on lists upon lists. Right now the spammers and scammers are taking a political angle. I added the area codes (like "+1 (111)" for the format to add to blocker, minus the quotes) that I have the most smishing/phishing trouble with AND keywords from all sides of the political spectrum, plus keywords on hot-button topics. As I get a new category to address, I add keywords there, too. These don't sync to using iMessage on MacBook or iMac, unfortunately, because I don't like using iCloud to sync messages. Anyway, I will definitely see if there's a tip jar because it's worth it to do so and write a review and I write app reviews maybe 5% or less of the time. The app author saved my sanity from deleting anywhere between 8 and 18 spam and smishing texts every day. Select all, "delete and report as junk" when I care to check, then voila.
