I really wanted to like this company. I actually used to recommend them! Started out amazing - simple signup, transparent fees, easy, modern! Then in less than 6 months all the following happened: random app errors, stopped accepting cash deposits without warning. Didn't work for paying CFE bills because I put in cents instead of whole pesos. Changed the deposit address. Changed the deposit address again! The worst part is the company communication. Why did you stop accepting cash deposits? Why is there no explanation to make me feel safe with my bank? Why did you change the deposit address, TWICE? Feels unstable and makes me uncomfortable trusting a company so bad at communication and opaque with my money.
I just started using Cuenca as my main account in Mexico, since I’m WFH in this country I need a reliable bank account to use for my local expenses. I have a couple of issues at the beginning but because the holidays can’t be solved quickly but once we a regular day came, they took care of me and solved every single Issue and questions. I recommend this app for people that is tired to be an account number of a huge institution. This a more personal way to have a good manage of your money and expenses.
As of now, you can only put money in your account if you transfer from another bank account in Mexico. No cash deposits! Pretty disappointing experience when you’re new to Mexico and don’t have an account. Then I tried to recharge my cell phone plan through their app. I initiated the payment, waited several hours... nothing. Then customer service tells me that takes 24-72hrs for those payments to go through. No information about that anywhere in the app. Terrible way to find out. Also, why would I use a service that takes anywhere from 24-72 hours to pay date sensitive bills? Digital app-based banks are supposed to be easier to work with. This is an experience I expect from corporate banks, not startups.
