Absolutely garbage. The only two words that accurately describe the experience of this app. The unit I bought was wifi enabled out of the box. Great! No adapters just plug and play. Nope. I was extremely disappointed to learn that Daikin had removed its API to allow easy third party integrations in favor of their new ‘cloud service’. So what’s the cloud service like? Beats me, I could never get it to connect to my unit for longer than the app was open. Every time I closed the app, the unit would lose connection and could no longer be found unless re-paired. What? Why? The most frustrating part of all this was learning they didn’t completely remove the ability for third party integrations: they just put it behind a paywall. One 600 dollar adapter and cable later, I can set this up on my wifi through the app once, then use home assistant to control everything remotely. The home assistant integration was written by one random guy and it works exponentially better than an app written by a corporation with enough tons of money. It’s clearly a cash grab for Daikin. They don’t care. It’s been years and nothing seems to be fixed. Save your money and headaches and buy a different brand, one that isn’t from the most blatant anti-consumer company I’ve seen in a looooong time.
I’ve given this app a whole year to do a few basic things: 1. Allow me to turn off my 3 zone system and know it’s actually off 2. Switch modes 3. Have some feature parity with the daikin remotes I already have Instead, as other reviewers have mentioned, I’m stuck with frequent “This unit is not connected” when I’m standing right next to the Wi-Fi adapter and it’s status is definitely connected. I find myself force quitting this app so much that I’m just thinking of selling these adapters and making my own custom IR interface to these units. My wife is frequently mad at me that we don’t have heat or ac when we need it, and for some reason lately the app even when it says it’s heating, I just have to use the remote anyway because it’s not on heat mode. I have no idea what the core issue of this app is, whether it’s on the cloud server or what I predict is the development of this app, but it’s simply not okay to have adapters that cost this much be totally unreliable pieces of garbage. I don’t expect perfection but this is far from it. I wish I could have gotten the older versions of these adapters that connected only to Wi-Fi in my local network. At lease then I could easily use some of the other solutions out there. Please fix this Daikin!!
Our experience with this app and the Airzone controllers has been terrible. We use this app to connect to ecobee thermostats wirelessly and have used it since November 2021. The cloud goes down often, and there is no way to view the system status or report issues. In addition to cloud outages, the 3rd party connection to ecobee breaks at least once a month. Data will flow from DKN Cloud NA to ecobee, but the app will not read ecobee temperature settings or system changes. The team behind the support email address listed in replies to the app reviews is courteous but hasn’t been able to help us troubleshoot any of the times we’ve asked for support. They’ve never been able to pinpoint the problem behind the cloud connection going down or the broken connection to ecobee. These two issues recur every few weeks, and there’s no resolution or feedback mechanism so the app can be improved.
The Airzone DKN Cloud NA app can control and monitor your Airzone DKN NA (american market) connected to Daikin air conditioning units (SkyAir and VRV)...
