Xtool Anyscan

This app and tool is unreliable. I have had several issues where the app would not sync to the Bluetooth OBD reader when I needed it most. After a ton of research, I found out that I had to uninstall the app then reinstall and start all over for it to sync again. That solved the issue but well after the fact of when I needed it the most, so the unit failed me dearly. Now here we are again and the app will not update at all, I get the error message “network anomaly, please try again” there is no network anomaly whatsoever and again I am left with a useless tool that I would like to get my money back on.

I’ve had pretty good luck with being able to plug in and use many of the functions, on an array of different manufacturers. But, the “data logging” is borderline useless in my opinion. Maybe I just can’t figure it out? You can monitor up to 8 pids, and “start” the logging process. But, when you go back to view the log, it shows all of the pids, not just the ones selected. The most irritating part is that you can’t “navigate” the playback. You can’t fast forward, you can’t rewind, you can literally press play, and pause… that’s it. So if you’re monitoring and logging, and 10 minutes in you record the issue, you literally have to watch the entire 10 minutes of playback. It really makes the data logging useless for me. Wish there was more info on this app.

The A30M tool itself is a nice budget scanner. Recently made the switch from the thinkdiag 2 because of the yearly fees to use it. This scanner has the potential to be just as good but the app itself is lacking. Firstly, autoscan seems to fail on a lot of cars which is very annoying. Secondly, the interface for finding certain commands are in the wrong spots. For example on a Buick I just used the tool on the evap vent valve solenoid test was under the ecm not the bcm where it should be. No yearly fees is awesome but until the app is more polished I can’t fully recommend this.
