Reviews: What People Think About Quiche Reader

I’m an efficiency expert and a usability guru. I’ve traversed the sea of apps promising to help you stay on top of what you want to read. I’ve amassed lists in the hundreds of saved articles that I wanted to read. All have failed me until now. Reading Queue’s magic sauce is it’s simple design that immediately brings you to the oldest saved article and forces an action- read it, snooze it (only 3 times), archive it, or delete it. This overcomes the user’s psychological problem or the paradox of freedom - having the freedom to make a choice (of what to read in a moment) is often what paralyzes us. When there’s so much information and things you want to read, you get overwhelmed by the decision. This app empowers the user to trust your original instinct that led to saving the article in the first place. IT’S THE SIMPLEST APPS THAT ARE THE MOST BRILLIANT! And Greg, the developer, is very responsive to feedback and continues to iterate and improve this iOS app, MacOS app, and browser extensions. SUPPORT THIS INDEPENDENT DEVELOPER!!

Really like the idea and concept and could see myself using this app a lot more if a couple of things were fixed. 1. The quiche browser is awesome with built in ad blocking- why does this reader not block ads? I would love to be able to read this in more of an e-reader format, but at a minimum it should block ads by default. 2. It needs dark mode. I could see myself wanting to read articles later at night but I typically like to limit blue light after certain hours. I would love to have the articles offered in dark mode similar to the dark mode feature in the Quiche browser. 3. If I could download the article content to read later. Think this would be great for the plane where I could kill time reading articles I’ve set aside to read. Otherwise I love the simplicity here. I saved things to Pocket from Firefox but I find myself almost never going back to read the articles I’ve saved. I think the simplicity from this reader would make me read the articles I’ve saved but I would like some of the same reader functionality where I’m closer to the content of the webpage instead.

I have used Instapaper, Pocket, and Wallabag as various Read It Later services. This is the first one that I truly enjoy, and don't fell that I am selling my soul to use. It’s boasts a beautiful, dark interface (by default!), iCloud Sync, and is easy to use. It also has an macOS version available on the App Store, also, for free. This is a rare gem of an app. The developer, Greg (whose rest of the name I will not even attempt to write, as I will sure mess it up) has delivered to market, what an app **should** be. Simple, easy, **private**, and without the obnoxious subscription charges, so prevalent in todays apps. If this app were to go to a pay/buy model **without** a subscription, I will still support this developer by purchasing it.
About Quiche Reader
FOR OVERWHELMED READERS.
With traditional read-it-later apps, you often end up wasting time scrolling and managing a long and daunting list of articles where you cannot tell anymore what is worth reading. Ultimately, you get backlog anxiety, you stop opening the app, and you have read nothing.

To solve this, Quiche Reader only shows you the first article in your queue. You must read, archive, or delete it, before reading the next one. You can cheat a bit and snooze an article to push it to the back of the queue, but only three times per article.

Quiche Reader removes the anxiety of decision making. It only shows the first article in your queue, and helps you decide to read or delete it, before you can proceed to the next one in line.

LET GO OF WHAT YOU DON’T NEED TO READ.
Quiche Reader encourages you to let go of articles you haven’t read for 30 days, and those you keep postponing reading.

UNINTERRUPTED READING EXPERIENCE.
Swipe to archive an article, and the next one in your queue appears instantly, with no loading time.

NEW STUFF IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER.
Your oldest saved articles are presented first so that they won’t be left forgotten at the bottom of the queue.

SAVE ARTICLES FROM ANYWHERE.
Save articles from any app and web browser on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

PRAISED AND LOVED.
“The point isn’t to read less, but more. Instead of wasting time picking which article to read, or getting so overwhelmed that you switch to Instagram, you’ll hopefully find your groove with Reading Queue.”

“This is INCREDIBLE! I've had similar issues with Pocket/Instapaper/Safari/Etc. in the past, and this is exactly what I've been looking for. The UX is super well done. It jumps you in and gets you started right away, and keeps you focused on the task.”
— Zachary B on Designer News
