Plane Finder 3D

Many of the 2D app aircraft simply don’t appear in the 3D app. What’s that about? In the end this would be great as a TV app or one for the Mac - now that would be useful because it’s so much more legible. The trouble is that for practical use, I find it mostly redundant. It’s too small, the aircraft types need better icons - that can be worked on over time. I want to love it, but I’m not really sure I gain anything of real value from it. It’s like ‘wow this is amazing’ and then the novelty wear off. One big thing missing - my location position. Without that it’s unhelpful. The VR aspect- again so clever but so what? I don’t mean to be harsh but it really isn’t of any practical use. It’s a novelty but nothing more. All of this needed to be integrated with the primary tracking app rather than as a money spinning novelty. This is typical of tech people - it looks awesome, coding it is a superb achievement, but it’s real value is next to zero.

I purchased this app expecting it to have all of the regular Plane Finder features but instead it appears to only be partly finished. The 3D models of the planes are average at best and there are only a limited number of 3D model types. The app also does not state what type of aircraft it is (as you can’t tell by the 3D model) and nor does it give you nearly as much information on the aircraft as the regular app. I think this app could be brilliant but it needs to contain more 3D models and have all of the regular Plane Finder features as well, regardless whether or not this is meant to be a companion app. Hoping to see improvement soon! This could really end up being a fantastic app.

A good app which gives a different perspective from the normal 2D apps and is a good companion. For future development I would like to see airport filters to give a perspective on each airports traffic. As I scan around the aircraft labels disappear and reappear - I would prefer these to be constantly on screen and for there to be an option to change Flight Numbers to Registrations. Overall a good start which I hope will be built on in future.
