I delayed leaving a negative review, opting to first use the “contact us” option, to see if my problem would be resolved without public complaint. I’ve received no response to my efforts to resolve the issue quietly, so that only makes my negative review two-fold. It’s one thing for an app to have technical difficulties. It happens, and is both understandable and forgivable. I am a more than reasonable and patient human. However, receiving no response indicates that there is not only a functional issue with the app, but also a massive problem regarding customer service. So now I feel that the single star rating has been well-earned. The app used to work. I used it successfully a number of weeks, possibly months. Yes I’ve confirmed that both the iPhone and the TV are on the same WiFi network, and the WiFi signal is strong and steady. No other devices in my home are having trouble maintaining connection over our WiFi. The app will work for a little while and then suddenly lose the connection with the TV. Then it won’t be able to find the TV to reconnect. At this point, it’s been over 24 hours of the app not being able to find the TV signal. Nothing has happened with the TV - it works fine with all other accessories. I explained all of the in my first effort to contact the developer, and was ignored. So now, it’s time for anyone considering the app to know... even if it works for you for a little while, it won’t do so consistently and you’ll get no customer service if you reach out to try to get things straightened out quietly. I really hate it when I’m left in a position where I feel I have no other recourse but to leave a bad review. Also - I paid for the ad-free version. I don’t mind paying for something in order to avoid ads... nothing is truly free, nor should it be. But when I pay for something and it doesn’t WORK, and then no one is reachable to address the problem or refund my purchase... THAT is unacceptable.
This like most “Free” apps ,is a Royal Pain until you buy it without the advertising! After the $3 Extra bucks then it’ll work great!I mean the App Store should maybe tell us again that “Nothing in life is free!”So when you take this for free it might be better to try all the apps that are “Free” see which has the best balance of usability with ads?Besides that it worked flawlessly and since I’ve snapped the original remote in half,I guess this will be the remote from now on?
The app itself is very good; it seems to control the tv better than the actual remote. As many reviews point out it’s just funny that it must be purchased for $1.99 to not have constant advertisements that need closed EVERY time you go to use it. If you have any use for this app then it you already purchased a tcl tv for at least a couple hundred dollars so it seems a little low that they want you to pay for this app for full functionality. Then again, it’s a lot cheaper than buying a new remote if you lost yours.
