I was a bit hesitant in splurging a couple hundred bucks for a tracker, but man has it paid for itself. I put it in a well hidden spot on my motorcycle and lo and behold, it was stolen one day. Took me 20 minutes to drive over, find it behind a fence wall discreetly using the Bluetooth radius (although I could’ve used a sound based alarm), and pull the cops over. Usually it’s a process to get law enforcement to do anything timely- in this case, when they arrived and said they couldn’t be sure, I then used the sound alarm to prove it was in the thief’s backyard. 30 minutes later I was riding it back home while they put him in cuffs. Worked like a charm, and the battery stays active for 2-3 months at a time in southern heat! Now I look back at the travel logs and laugh about it with my friends; they walked with my bike for two hours only to have it taken right back within 15 minutes 😂.
Before, you would just launch the app and see the location of your tracker, which is the most important and immediate need for an app like this. Now you have to click “everything is fine” sometimes two times in a row in order to see the location of your tracker. You can also click on “see the location of my tracker” —someone’s twice— which seems kind of pointless if the only thing that you really need is to see the map. Just show the map. Skip the clicks. Enough said. Other than that, it’s pretty good.
I’d change this fast if they allowed notifications to go to Apple Watch for instant notification of a tilt. That’ll be awesome. I don’t always get the chance to check my phone, also to be able to customize the notification sound on iOS vs just the normal sound my phone gives for notifications. I’d like to separate my sounds for emergency things
