TezLab - For Tesla/Rivian

I love the aesthetics and the sheer amount of data. The remote controls and watch app work well and definitely a neat feature. Even the in-car dash during a drive is nice, and certainly super unique. All that said, I just don’t see the value in the subscription- for me personally. I don’t care all that much about the drive stats and data, which I’d say is this app’s primary feature. If you want to geek out about stats in real time and care about things like carbon impact, etc. then you might be happy. My favorite feature is the watch app. But even that I used maybe once just to try it. The in car dash is nice, but you have to have a web browser open- good workaround but just not quick or practical. All that said, again, this is a very aesthetically pleasing app that clearly is a labor of love. I’d recommend it, even though it’s not for me.

This platform has been an incredible source of data for myself as Drive over 70,000 miles a year in my Tesla. I’ve been able to log my actual battery health and capacity over long time scales and extreme use cases. It’s awesome to garner reliable data around actual range, real world efficiency and even the INCREDIBLE ability to plant trees to actively combat carbon production from charging the vehicle. There’s just so much good information and a fun way to get achievements and “mayorship” of charging stations. More than worth the price for the pro version and excited for future integration of different types of EVS like the Mach E and ID4. I really hope this happens.

Really like what this app is trying to do, but only gave it four stars because I think it can be made “great” by making a few tweaks. Specifically, on long road trips, I’m awarded bronze, silver and gold badges for driving efficiently, keeping a consistent speed or fastest time covering a certain number of miles. I’d like the app to feature a trophy case (visible only by the user) to contain these achievements. As it is now, they get tossed into the ocean of other members’ achievements and aren’t readily accessible. Also, I’ve paid nearly $200 to purchase actual trees that will be planted to offset my carbon generated by charging, but that investment isn’t really celebrated as well as I think it should be inside the app. There should be a more thoughtful, graphically rewarding page I can refer to within the app that shows the region(s) of the world in which my trees are located, and when they were added.
