Russian Dictionary Wiki Word

The app is extremely well done, much better than many other dictionary apps. I was looking for an app that gave the meaning of Russian words in Russian not English. In addition to that it offers synonyms, conjugations, several examples of its usage. UI is very smooth and seamless.

I’m Russian and have been living in the US since mid-childhood. I read and write in Russian quite often in order to keep my native language fresh in my mind and make sure I never lose fluency, and this app has been brilliant for me! In addition to words I don’t know, I look up words I do know to see synonyms, etymologies, examples, and common combinations. The only thing that would make it better is a way to look up translations of English words, but I don’t think that’s what this app is really for.

This app makes an immense wealth of information available in an intuitive and convenient way. The definitions are very solid. All the grammatical information (the declensions, the conjugations, participles, stress changes) are neatly laid out in tables. Any word in the definition, if you tap it, will open a mini window with the first definition of that word, so there’s no need to go bouncing to page to page if you’re unsure about a word used in the definition. A must have for foreign students of Russian at an advanced, or honestly even an upper intermediate level.
