I had hoped that this app would stay on when I switched apps. I am a walker and want a strobe on my phone so when I walk at dusk I can use this app as my warning light. But when I move between apps, it doesn’t stay on. The always on feature be a plus for this app.
This app uses the microphone to listen to what's going on around you, and doesn't offer a player to source audio from iTunes or Dropbox etc., but you can play audio from another app while this app listens, so that's pretty cool. I really like that you can adjust the sensitivity of the strobe across the audio spectrum with an EQ style graph—it lets you fine tune its response to the situation you're in; I ended up doing some hand drumming while I was playing with it and I could block out the HVAC and other house noises with the EQ and have it respond to my beat without getting all messed up by the ambient stuff. The strobe doesn't just flash on and off with the rhythm either, it actually seems pretty intelligent. Rather than simply switching the LED on and off, it also brightens and dims the light, shortens and extends the amount of time it's lit, and modifies this cool fluttery thing it does with it between heavy beats. I really like this app.
This is a really neat app! If you're into music then this app would be really fun. However, it's a lot of fun to play around with for anyone. I definitely did not think I would enjoy this app as much as I have. It's also very easy to use and works well. I would definitely recommend this app to everyone.
