This is yet another example of a company insisting on having an app even though all the app functionality is available elsewhere. What’s worse is that the app is buggy in the extreme, for example the app does not correctly check to see whether it should log one in or not and automatically logs one in irrespective of one’s security status, the app constantly reminds one that one needs to upgrade the app to the latest version in order to access some piece of functionality DESPITE the fact the app is at the latest version, the app continually caps one’s data limit to some arbitrary value irrespective of the amount of data one actually has, the app incorrectly does not register data usage if the amount one has used is below some arbitrary value, need I go on ? The app is buggy, adds no real value, has the most horrible UX and in fact gets in the way of functionality provided elsewhere by forcing one to use the app rather than say the web or the call centre. I’m deleting the app in favour of the web.

I’ve tried buying bundles, airtime or anything possible in this app and when it comes to materializing the transaction (meaning after I’ve input already my OTP provided by the bank), it redirect me to the app with a stupid error message that reads “you’ve canceled your transaction”... whaaaaat??!!!! And this isn’t a one time error, I’ve tried (like I mentioned before), buying different times, with WiFi, with my data, airtime, bundles... it JUST DOESN’T WORK!! I had called the CellC customer service about it and all they can say is “restart your phone, the app or upgrade the app”. Been there done that, wouldn’t waste my time -and airtime, calling them if I REALLY didn’t have a problem and tried to solve it myself first.

This app is pathetically useless! It’s slow regardless of network reception, it takes you to the wrong places when you’re trying to get things done and sometimes tells you that you need to log in when in fact you are already logged in. It’s stupid! How a company like Cell C can entertain such a pathetic app is beyond comprehension 🤦‍♂️
