You’re a prospect for this item, if you keep getting those pesky out-of-storage messages on your device. But you’re likely to experience even more frustration upon purchasing the HooToo flash drive and downloading the iPlugmate app, which appears to be the sole pairing option for performing backup, storing and sharing operations from your device. Contrary to what you may learn from some of the positive remarks by users who have achieved a level of satisfaction with the app, it does not meet plug-and-play expectations. Given the marketing hype around the HooToo product, one would expect a seamless process for offloading those bloated picture, audio and video files. But seamless it is not. After reformatting, re-reading, re-researching and following several suggestions, as well as calling support, and being kept on hold for approximately 10 minutes without hearing from a human being, I’m still left with a purchase that does not do what I wanted it to do, which is to free-up storage space on my iPhone, so I can complete software updates, use music apps and download files of interest to me in my work. If I could go back in time, I would look for a different option and forego purchasing this HooToo product.
Overall, the app is pretty good. It functions well for what it is. However, requiring the exFAT formatting handicaps those of us working with larger files. Has this happened to you? You get a nifty thumb drive that can stores 128GB and you’re excited because you can finally start moving those large files to and from your mobile device, but then you try to move a file larger than 4GB and you get a warning that it’s too large? That’s not the fault of storage space, it’s the fault of the drive format. ExFAT cannot handle files larger than that. The answer? Reformat the drive to NTFS. Now the drive can handle larger files. Great! There’s just one problem: The app will not recognize the drive! Why? Because it doesn’t recognize the format! The developers need to adjust for this. Why have a drive that can handle large files but only works with an app that can’t?
Ok so I was looking for a way of transferring files from my iPad to other iOS devices when airdrop options were not available. This app makes it possible. I am now able to airdrop music files not downloaded through the iTunes Store to other devices. I am a digital content creator and having the ability to transfer files as easily as a non iPad computer is really helpful. All music files have a directory so you can create playlists and cycle though your music and iPhoto’s and other files. This is like having a backup files app on your iOS if the native files app does not meet all of your needs. I am thrilled with the functionality of this app. And it works in iOS 12. 🙌🏻 would recommend this app for the workflow enthusiast who wants to work from iOS devices full time. 📱📲
