Reviews: What People Think About PlayStation Messages

The app is amazing but every time I use it my ps4 will stop work and it will say the I haven’t started and chats with anyone, and when I try texting my friends on the app when that happens it doesn’t work. I have tried restarting my ps but it will have the same problem when it turns on, but the wired is that the next day it is all fine... it’s just whenever I use the app it my ps stops working... I love the app and everything but that one problem I am having with it makes me not like it as much, I am just wondering is anyone else’s having the same problem as me or am I the only on???

And, up until a couple minutes ago, I’ve never even once had a problem with it. But if I’m being honest, although the problem I’m having now is quite infuriating — especially considering it shouldn’t have happened in the first place, since the last time I opened the app was 2 days ago — it still doesn't even rank among my top 5 reasons for giving this COMPLETELY justifiable 2-star rating, which I STILL feel was pretty generous of me.
Seriously, what company actually believes it’s reasonable to not only develop and release, but also *continue to maintain* not one, not 2, not 3... But *eight* (8!!!) SEPARATE mobile applications, each connecting to a different function ON THE SAME DEVICE?! Almost as if they feel each of these various functions draws SO MUCH BANDWIDTH on mobile connections, they all need their own dedicated server facilities in order to run right. I mean, obviously I know apps like “PS4 Second Screen” are probably more useful as standalone’s, but do “PS Messages”, “PS Communities”, “PS Deals” and whatever the hell “Experience PlayStation” really and truly NEED their own apps? At that point, you guys might as well just allocate a chunk of our phone app storage if you genuinely feel EVERY one of us needs EVERY one of those apps.
Sorry to everyone who wasted time reading that, but that whole concept had been slowly gnawing at me for a fairly lengthy amount of time. lol Anyway, rant over.

This app is literally unusable for me now. After it has signed me out (which why is that happening in the first place??), I go to sign in and once my email and password are put in, it asks for the two factor authorization. If I tap the screen at all, be it in the text field or in the pop up auto fill (where it pulls the six digit number from the texts), the app force closes and returns me to the Home Screen. I’ve tried restarting my phone, checking version compatibility, reinstalling the application, and nothing fixes it.
I wish I could leave less than a star. Even when it did work, it was usable at absolute best, but slow to load and refresh. I expect more from a company as massive as Sony, sporting one of the all time best selling consoles.
Do not download. A new app for PS5 will be available soon I imagine, and this app will be left dead in the water, as it is now and has been apparently since its inception.
