I will not discuss (my lack of) getting access to the business group upstairs in the office in downtown/center of Bonaire. Nor will I go into the attitudes that are given once speaking to the elusive upstairs bunch.What happened to customer service and a smile. You do want to keep business? Or Maybe Not!Let’s talk about the app.Horrible! The best thing about it is the quickness of the online customer service personnel getting information about your issue(s) but that turned out disastrous after my issue was documented and a reference number was sent to me, I received a message that said, ‘resolved’ when it clearly was not.You cannot pay your bill on the app. When you try, it will not allow. If it is not possible, remove it from the app and let it be an app to keep up with what you owe and your usage. EASY! Or Maybe Not.The amount shown is not updated on a weekly or monthly basis after payment. After making an online payment on the computer, I may get texts about needing payment for weeks after.The data usage is not up to date, if you are trying to stay under a daily/weekly/monthly amount, you cannot base it on what you see in the app. It is not keeping up with date on a daily or every other daily basis. Is that on purpose? Or Maybe Not. It is definitely a great ploy to get more money. If you think you have 1 GB of data but you really have none, you are going to be charged if you use data you do not really have. In this age of technology, this app should not be this prehistoric.

“This feature is temporarily unavailable.” Get used to the sound of those words. When it works, the Digicel app is decent, allowing you to top up and purchase plans easily. The problem is that it hardly ever works. Like almost never. It’s truly awful. In the 5+ years I’ve used this app and Digicel service, I’d estimate that it has worked roughly 10% of the time or less. While it says that My Digicel internet traffic is free, the app will not work if you’ve run out of credits. So, if you run out of credits, you can’t top up unless you have a local Wi-Fi signal, which doesn’t make much sense. But even if you DO have a local Wi-Fi signal, as I currently do, the app STILL doesn’t work much of the time. I’ve been trying to top up and purchase a data plan for several days now, but can’t because the app is broken. I get all the way to the purchase screen, enter my CC info, and then get the spinning wheel of death and the purchase never goes through. You’d think they would prioritize making something that brings them money work well, but apparently not. Bottom line—digicel’s service and their app are very unreliable.

So I was against downloading this app but eventually I changed my mind and did. At first I didn’t regret it, the app was a great idea, could have been more used friendly but they made a few improvements & it got better. Now I’m not sure what’s happening but it’s starting to say “this feature is temporarily unavailable. We are actively working on fixing it.” Well it seems they are not working actively enough because it has been saying that a little too often & for way too long now. I am highly disappointed. I say download at your own risk because when it works it’s good, it’s like they draw you in with something shiny & it works but when you get used to it, it just stops working. All that glitters is not gold.
