I’ve used OLX for over 6 years. But it has too many issues. The chat function is unreliable. You don’t get notifications so have to open the app to manually refresh for messages. And the worst part is search/browse results are only there while you’re in the app. The moment you open another app and come back to OLX you have to search/browse all over again. Favourites is also very buggy. Half the time things don’t get saved to your favourites list. Location filters don’t work when searching. It gives you results of ads in another province. Users aren’t verified so there’s a ton of scammers posting ads & replying to yours. These issues have been there for many years now but the dev team has never resolved them.

This app is frustrating to say the least! More than half my messages come to me without the picture so I have to explain to my potential customer that I can’t see the picture of the item they are enquiring about or making an offer on, and can they please tell me what it is they are asking about! Not a very professional way to start a sale! Needless to say half the people don’t come back to me, potential sale lost! And then there is the call service, which only functions to let you know you have missed the call, no call actually comes through!!! Useless! The only redeeming feature on the app is the security warnings when a suspicious dealer contacts you. OLX you get just 1 Star from me until you fix these issues!

All my intentions to purchase goods from OLX seemed to by scams. The sellers should be screened for honesty and contact details of sellers is a must. The sellers I communicated with regarding camera sales were keen to send the items if the full amount is deposited in their accounts but none were keen to depart from their stock on a personal one ti one deal. Check the recent advertisement of a Nikon D7200 for R9000 in the Western Cape. The seller accepted my offer but refuse to send his/her contact details and address . He /she only want to do the deal via courier. This is a scam like many of my previous attempts. Follow the e bay rules where deliveries are guarenteed.
