I think the game was enjoyable and difficult enough, but around the Chinese New Year level this thing of ads popped up. It had no exit button at the top corner and had arrows at the bottom that let you browse ads. I was very annoyed, as it was only about ten minutes into the app. So then I start pressing the back arrow, curious of what ads i browsed before. After about two seconds of useless loading, a message from apple comes up and says I got a virus! It said that I was in danger of having my cameras monitored by stalkers, personal files and photos leaked, etc. I'm not usually one to believe this but the pop up seemed legit, so I asked my computer whiz friend and they said it was legit, and I'd have to delete the internet information and all that. Don't trust the ads on this app.
PLEASE PLEASE make an option to make the characters not give you all the answers. How can anyone call this a puzzle game when you don't even have to think? It now highlights where to click??? Why?? I love a challenge and can you escape 1 and 2 were perfect. I was so excited for more and then devastated when the game just gave everything away and told you what to do. This is infuriating and sad. I am not a mindless sheep incapable of solving a puzzle without being told what to do every step of the way. It takes away all the fun of solving it yourself. Please make an option to turn off all the hints!
Can You Escape - Holidays follows the same model as many other escape games. You can play at no charge a certain number of escape puzzles, then you must pay $2-3 to finish the game. I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 free puzzles. The graphics were much higher quality than the typical escape game, and the developer beautifully captured each holiday. The puzzles were creative and moderately challenging. The free portion gives you the holidays for the first half of the calendar year, and I wanted to buy the second half. Unfortunately, every time I attempted to buy a bonus pack or the ad free version, I got an error message "Something went wrong." I was disappointed, especially because it's not typical for me to purchase escape puzzles. Perhaps you'll have better luck.
