I’m giving five stars because I’m hoping you can solve this problem which just recently occurred. This has been the best app for me when I need to make lists - especially grocery lists. HOWEVER, now if I want checkboxes, the rows double in height, which makes it much harder to easily scan my list as I’m shopping. PLEASE go back to allowing checkboxes with narrow rows. The checkboxes make it so easy to see what still needs to be accomplished (put in grocery cart) on my list. Plus I can delete the checked items as I shop, which also helps shopping go faster. I even went so far as to try ‘Reminders’ and ‘Notes’ on my iPhone 13. They still cannot hold a candle to ‘Inkpad’ when it comes to making lists.
I’ve been using this to manage important ideas both personal and professional. Overall it’s been reliable and easy to use, but some quirks are frustrating. Most notable at the moment is spacing. For example, when I try to add sub notes to a primary header, I add a space after the bullet, but it doesn’t display this until after I begin typing. The result is that I often add another space or two (or none at all) in an effort to anticipate the logic, but the outcome isn’t right, so efforts have to shift to editing rather than recording notes quickly. In a world where little items like this are expected, this quirk makes the Inkpad app seem like a primitive throwback rather than a sharp, 21st century tool that quickens workflow rather than slows it. Seems like this small detail might be worth the effort for the developers to resolve and make the app on par with virtually every other writing interface out there, such as Word, email, and....even the ancient mechanical typewriter response appropriately when the user indicates need for a space when appropriate.
Edit: Update seems to have fixed the worst of the bugs, including notes not saving. However, now it’s having trouble syncing some notes that I add to the website first; it’s impossible to highlight/Select some text without using Select All which is incredibly inconvenient, and I can’t move the cursor by holding down the keyboard as you can in iOS. Please fix these minor bugs so we can all have our beloved app back. Thank you. Changing my review to one star due to no action from developers. I will be transitioning to a new note taking app, reluctantly. The app simply doesn’t save notes on iPhone 8 and has cost me countless lost minutes and hours and information. The ad on top is so obnoxious that it often blocks the text you’ve typed. This has become nearly unusable. Original review: I’ve been using this app for 5 years and it’s become a fundamental part of my life. I record all of my observations and writings in this app first, and it has come to serve as a chronicle of my emotional rollercoasters across the last half decade. However, I have found it to be almost unusable on iPhone because eight times out of ten, it just doesn’t save my note. This is devastating, as it’s truly a deal breaker. I don’t want to leave this app, so please fix these bugs and you’ll have me for at least another five years.
