CouIdn't be happier! I purchased this awhile back, updated and still love it.. its a very easy to use app with no privacy issues or concerns.. very SAFE, even the voice playback is not kept permanently! The price was right, not too much & it lets you search through your word list. I have downloaded all the vocabulary & use it along with other learning resources. I have used it on iPhone and Samsung.. never had a problem, UNTIL RECENTLY.. but more likely it's Apple that keeps changing & losing MY PURCHASED CONTENT.. so I've had to re-download more than a few times to our devices.. Would LOVE TO SEE MORE.. grammar phrases, or conversation response choice quizzes, true/false answers games perhaps. I Own a Hebrew Tanach .. More Biblical terms etc. maybe, or even a separate Biblical Vocabulary App? LOL❣️
I really wish there was a way to rate how confident you feel with each word. I’ve used other flash card study apps that allow you to mark whether or not you still have trouble with a certain card or if you know it well already so you don’t have to keep reviewing the same words over and over. With this app, there’s a “temperature” gauge that gradually gets cooler the more you don’t have to flip a card, the idea being that the “cooler” a card is, the better you know it, and it’s automatic (unless you turn the setting off). A nice idea in theory - I like seeing how many of my cards I’ve gotten better at knowing - but it’s really frustrating having to continuously go over and over and over the same words that I am already 110% confident I know before it starts introducing new words (one at a time, after several cycles of the same words). In that regard, it can feel like a time waster. I guess practice is practice, but it’s just annoying when I’m ready to move on and review more words. But otherwise, I really like the app. Probably more for studying vocabulary than learning how to actually speak/listen to Hebrew, but having the audio of the pronunciation for each word is good. And having so many options to customize your review experience is helpful too, like font, speed of speech, visible/invisible vocalizations, whether you want transliteration alongside the translation or don’t want the translation visible at all until you choose to reveal it, and many other options. Pretty nice for a free app!
I love to let it play and go for a run or do yard work vs having to read or actively interact with the app. Probably would be ideal with another learning resource for dedicated study sessions. Also love how it gradually mixed in new words and phrases while diminishing those it figures you’ve mastered — though you can select any you wish to bump back to frequent status. Couple of quibbles. The session stops after about 5 minutes. You can just restart it but that’s a pain while running and I wish there was a setting to adjust the length of sessions. Also a lot of phrases don’t lend themselves to literal translation word for word and I wish I could see that — what each word in a phrase means on its own. It would be another way to better remember the phrase and accelerate vocabulary learning. Finally it seems to lack any grammar teaching. But if you want an easy (and I free) way to lean Hebrew via audio, this app is it.
