Heaven Burns Red is basically a free high quality visual novel with plenty of thought and care put into its characters and story. The primary gameplay of the game is reading, making dialogue choices, many of which are fun jokes, and experiencing the every day life of these characters who fight for humanity’s survival. The main scenario is written by Jun Maeda of Clannad and Angel Beats fame so expect emotional tension rivaling or even exceeding those works. There is a battle system that feels somewhat close to console RPGs. There is a frontline and backline of units with skills that you can choose to equip prior to a mission, and each round of a battle you select which ones to use based on your current SP level. You rotate people in and out of the frontline to manage who gets certain buffs, healing, attacking, or manage your shield levels. It gets fun to manage once you understand how it works and try to adapt to various circumstances. There’s basically no competitive system amongst players other than screenshotting damage/score attack numbers and sharing them, and events are archived after they run so you can feel free to play the game stress free at your own leisure. Definitely try to give the game shot if you get the chance.
I've been following the JP version for 2 years now and started playing it last year. From the score, to the characters, and the story, there's just so much to love. Yes, its a turn-based gacha rpg which might not be for everyone but give it a chance! The only main complaint I have about this version so far is the translations, I feel like they did not need to translate terms like "teheperinko". Also they translated names which definitely did not need to happen, I rather call Otama by that than Cappy. Another example is K*tsu, instead of translating the name to the meaning I'd prefer just sticking to K*tsu and having the translation at the bottom, or top, of the name (theres really no need to translate names please). I appreciate the effort in substituting humor though. There are typos here and there but overall good job translators, I've waited for a global release for years now this is just what I wanted 😭
Such a unique way to do a gacha game it has a strong story focus with really good character interactions aka yuki is the best The did an amazing job with the art and music And the game systems a lot different from what most other games offer and the upgrade system to but once you get used to it it’s fine I didn’t expect a visual novel/persona type gacha game to come out with actual choices and decisions that matter and also way to level up your int charmisa and stuff they did a good job integrating the gacha with the Vn style game so glad this game came out kanon is my favorite anime so glad key and the author still got it I was so tried of all other gacha stories it really shows a difference between experienced story tellers that have real investment in their stories
Heaven Burns Red, from the mind of Key's very own Jun Maeda, is a tale of the girls bearing humanity's last hope. Experience every unforgettable momen...
