FreeCell ▻ Solitaire

The FreeCell game and the Sudoku game have the same developer and share some similar problems which I find interesting….but I don’t know anything about developing games. I updated my Sudoku today because the old version I was using wasn’t working well…..really old version. Several reasons that I didn’t change before. I liked the game board or whatever it’s called. I like the colors instead of white. I could go game to game fairly easily. Usually I would only see one app that you are trying to sell me. Again, I am a creature of habit. Now, it gets stuck on the ‘in-app sell page’. I am not going to buy a new game while I am playing another game. FREECELL: now I had never played this before. But after I finished one game and got the ‘in-app purchase’ screen, I was stuck on that page…no way to escape except to leave the app, wait a minute, go back in and the ‘in app’ page might be gone. I like to move from game to game. This is BORING!!! And if I could have found a way to pay for no ads that wasn’t way too expensive, I might have done it. So, if this is how all game apps work, I won’t be playing these games or others … my time is expensive too.

I downloaded and tried SEVERAL FreeCell apps since switching back to iPhone a few months ago. They either had an awful graphics & UI or *bombarded* me with obnoxious full-page video ads that hold you hostage for a minimum of 30 seconds. (Or both.) Then trying to “X out” of the ads inevitably took you to the advertised product/app page, regardless of that being the last thing you want. This app didn’t pull any of that B.S. So I went LOOKING for the paid version—which costs a reasonable ONE TIME fee of $4.99, no subscription!👊— to show my support for the devs. But I could easily stick with the free version indefinitely and still enjoy the app without issue. This free version has a small banner ad displayed at bottom of page that doesn’t cover up any game play, buttons, or functions. You can skip video ads as soon as they start and return to the game. When you “X out” of an ad, it actually closes the ad!🎉No obnoxious pop-ups constantly asking you to rate the app or upgrade. The graphics & game play are pleasant & smooth. It’s just a nice, clean, boring, regular old Free Cell solitaire game app. Which is all I wanted!👍

I had meant to rate this app as a 5 star, never got around to it. Then the other day, an update came out or something and ads started appearing right in the middle of game play. Immediately came to review and left 2 stars. Then came back and gave 3 stars, because all the other freecell games out there are way worse. And then Fingerarts removed the ad, so here are their much deserved 5 stars. (Keep things the way they are ad wise!) The ads are way less intrusive than other games, and I actually view them because I appreciate the manner in which they’re shown (less than others- and you can close out of them immediately). As far as the actual game, they seem to be fixing the bugs (minor issues). But also, mess with your settings. A bug might just be on how your settings are adjusted. Overall, it’s my favorite game to play while killing time, and this app delivers a far more superior game than anybody else out there- by far!
