FastToll Illinois

I use Illinois tollways very once in awhile if I am traveling from my home state Wisconsin to get to just about any other state. When this pandemic started back in March 2020, I would drive through Chicago and none of the booths were open. Now how do you pay a toll online when you are not from Illinois. The first trip down to Chicago left Me speechless when I couldn’t figure out how to pay for my tolls in 7 days when the website wouldn’t let you in ( again because I am not from Illinois), here is where Illinois makes a lot of money off unsuspecting individuals. If you don’t pay your tolls within the 7 day window, they send you a letter tacking on an additional $3 to each toll. This is a racket like no other. So people if you are traveling through Illinois beware. This app Fast Toll is the cats meow; it is so easy to download and start using when traveling anywhere. It’s great!!!!!!

I was going to rate this app as a 5, but after reading the review on payment not getting to IL, I’m concerned. Over Thanksgiving of 2018 I went to IL and a few months later I got a bill, complete with $20 fines for each toll, that said I hadn’t paid. I thought I had done something wrong using the app, or possibly HAD forgotten or whatever, although I am super conscious about paying tolls, and actually felt like I remembered paying them. Plus the app reminds you as well. So I appealed (I haven’t gotten the outcome yet). I checked my statement to send proof that I had paid, and the Thanksgiving tolls being paid were not there! I just went to IL again last week and the payments did show up on my statement this time, but I would say, check your statements! The charge should show up immediately (for sure on on a debit card) so you will know if payment went through. And if IL doesn’t get it, at least you have proof that someone named ‘IL TOLLWAY’ took money from your account. And last, I did try to pay this trip’s tolls on the road as soon as I crossed into to WI, and the payment pop up kept spinning and it did NOT go through. I tried again as soon as I got home and it did. So I think it works better In WiFi. I now think that is what happened over thanksgiving..... wasn’t in WiFi when I tried to pay them.

I HATE Tolls, and that’s an understatement...why are we paying for something our taxes are already paying for? But worse than tolls are stoping every several miles to pay another toll! We avoid traveling through IL for the very reason of Toll Roads (I hope you are reading this IL!) but this app makes the trip tolerable to the piont I will happily pay the processing fee! Works great and flawless! The only con is you can’t change vehicle types mid route or it changes them all...I.e I drive thru IL with just a truck, but I come back with a trailer, ie >small truck/6 tires then on return trip with a trailer I am now > medium Truck/3 or 4 axles. I solve this by paying my toll mid trip before the return trip. Overall this app is great and worth paying the processing fee!
