My gym kicked me off the EGYM equipment for wanting to do two sets on the EGYM leg press. I was excited about the equipment because It auto adjusts and as someone who has been injured before gave me a sense of security knowing the equipment is set up properly for my body. I downloaded the app, did the body scan, did the calibration with the equipment. The next week I went in hit start my work out on the app and got to work. When I got to leg press I thought I could use the EGYM one that will calibrate with my body and have a fun game. However apparently you may do one set and then go to the next piece of equipment immediately. Not lingering to rest. One set only then you have to let the next person do their one set. They have it set up as a circuit I guess. Not that there is anything saying that. And if I wanted to do a second leg press I’d have to go start at the beginning of the circuit… When they kicked me off the equipment for wanting to do 2 they let me know that I wasn’t allowed to do more then one set there unless no one else is at the gym. I suggested that they put up a sign saying you may either use the equipment to go around the circuit OR you can use the AI trainer but that you arnt aloud to do both. I struggle to stay in the gym constantly as it is and getting kicked off of equipment when I had no idea I wasn’t allowed to use it like that feels awful.
From what I can tell, the app works well for the most part. I have all permissions on for it to read and write data, and I even see my EGYM workouts in my Apple Fitness app, but it doesn’t seem to take the active calories from that workout and add it towards my Move ring on my fitness app/Apple Watch. I’d be thrilled to find out I am doing something wrong but as far as I can tell it’s showing the workout, just not giving me the “credit” 😅
1. Takes way too long to refresh data. Currently an activity that took place 14 hours ago still isn’t reflected in the app. 2. Data isn’t present in a useful way. A lot of data is collected and most of it isn’t accessible to the user of presented in a useful way. 3. Poor user interface design. A user that does not have a fitness tracker/watch can manually enter through the app. A search for “walking” does not even provide walking as the first result. Creating and saving a date (no default to current date/time?) The activity has pre-set increments (walking 10 minutes) and you have to tap it multiple times to add it up. Then you have to save it and also push it through again to reflect on the app. Bad design. 4. Too easy to set up wrong. All top ranking users at the gym have incorrectly interfaced their activity tracker to the app. All their activities double and triple post. It’s not motivating to other users when the top ranking users posts 1 hour of elliptical THREE times a day every day. The app should not permit duplicate entry and should have preset suggested interfacing between the accessory and the app.
