I have a Rheem hybrid water heater and a Rheem HVAC heat pump system. So far the actual heating and cooling is superb. My house is more comfortable than it has ever been. The climate control is homogeneous over my entire house and the move to heat pump technology has sharply reduced my utility bills. When the app works it’s ok. I can see what’s happening, look at consumption both present and past. However, more often than not the app losses connection, won’t respond and throws off the error message that some data error happened and to call support. Sometimes it follows the schedule, sometimes not. My in home WiFi is robust and gives 5 star performance in the Eco Net app. The app design itself is ok. Not great, but functional. The real problem is it’s working inconsistently. Make the app bulletproof and it would be fine. I also suggest that Rheem offer RJ 45 type Ethernet connections to the heat pump and water heater tech. Many people prefer to hardwire key connections, I do, for streaming and control such as solar panel and battery control.
I find this app to only be useful if I want to change the schedule or mode it is on. Unfortunately, this app consistently does not deliver warnings on my heat pump water heater. There’s currently a warning on my water heater but it’s not showing up in the app. Since it’s not in the app, I’m not getting texts or emails when alarms goes off. There’s no way to sync the app with the water heater to trigger the app to see “oh the water heater has an alarm”. I tried deleting and reading my heat pump water heater from the app and that didn’t help either. Super frustrating. Reading the description of the alarm on the water heater is challenging, it’d be awesome to see the alarm details in the app. I honestly see very little use in this app, since the alarm notification isn’t working. You know what would ask make this app better? Remind me about annual maintenance tasks for my incredibly temperamental heat pump water heater since it needs to be babied more than any other water heater on the market. Also, what’s the difference with the other Rheem app? Is the other app better than this one? They seem to have an identical User Interface once logged in and also equally terrible at alarm notifications. Sorry. Lots of complaints here. I’m annoyed my expensive heat pump water heater only works consistently on Electric mode. I’d be less annoyed about that if the app that is supposed to facilitate consultant communication between me and my heat pump water heater actually worked beyond setting a schedule and changing the mode the water heater is in.
Update. The recent app update enabled this scheduling I was also able to get support from their support team. When calling in select wifi connection issues to connect to the heat pump water heater support team and econet app support team even if your unit is connected to wifi..it's the only way to reach them. One of the reasons I chose this my ruud water heater was to enable time of use scheduling to hear water warmer during low energy times. Their app doesn't even have the feature. The app support link in the Apple store is missing and emailing their support team from their advertised website...got no response. The parts of the app that exist work well. But ultimately they are falsely advertising their products (ruud and rheem, they use the same app)
