It's a decently good app for pixel art but there can still be a few improvements, 1.) an eye dropper tool to make it easier to select colors. 2.) a copy and paste thing for layers Otherwise, the app is fine.
Take a little time to read the directions, once you memorize the functions it's very intuitive! I've used Dots to create over 40 16-bit carictures of my friends; it has become an indispensible creative tool. I only wish there were a few other tools: a selection tool to allow the moving of only a partial section of an image, and a shape tool to help you draw the outlines of rectangles and ellipses. If you could increase the canvas size after starting a project, that would be immensely useful too! When trying to combine multiple sprites into a scene, its unfortunate that it resizes the artwork instead of importing it at the pixel perfect size. Maybe that should be an option?
Its a full app functioning app, and it works amazingly, but manu things can and should be added from things like a 256x256 size option when creating a new portrait to layer opacity for greater ease when creating gifs.
