DDSA Steingass Dictionary

I was thrilled to see that this app exists. I have been using my hard copy of Steingass and there is no doubt that no student of classical Persian can afford to be without it, like the Hans Wehr book in Arabic. My copy is a bit old and fragile and I was so happy to see it digitized and searchable! Awesome! So why three stars? Because there are SO many entries missing! Even common words like نهندن are just not here. So I have to break out the old fragile book anyway. It appears some of the grad students who were providing the brute labor for this monumental job were more attentive than others... It’s a really important contribution to an underserved field of study but the overall value of the app is unfortunately hampered by these omissions. I wish they had a function to report omissions.
